Artist statement

I am good with my hands and doing hard work. I thought perhaps I would make a good barber or shoe-shiner because I pay good attention to the details. I was wondering about other things that I could be good at, and as it turns out, I make a pretty good artist!
There is a good feeling that I feel when I am making the art. If I can see it, I can draw it, and being able to put that together makes me feel like I must be a pretty good artist. If I can do that, I think I can do anything. I like the feeling that I am accomplishing something, I am doing something, and the excitement of having other artists around me at the studio.
At the studio I am studying clay, and I like the way the clay works. I like that it makes something and that I make something. After I finish something that I make, I can spend a certain amount of time looking it over and learning what I can do differently the next time - and that means I do things well.
